Bulk Fiberglass Holding Tanks

In response to the growing requirement for a versatile sturdy tank that is readily available, we have developed a line of tanks that allows quick fabrication time. The main difference that separates these from our standard vertical tanks is that these tanks have an obvious out turned bolted seam.

This is one of the features that allows us to build and assemble them quickly. The interior seam is hand laid layers of fiberglass ensuring a complete internal sealed surface.

Our tanks are built to ASTM 4097-01 standards. We also have a variety of high performance resins and gelcoats available to us for specialty applications whether it be chemical compatibility, heat resistance, corrosion resistance, insulation, we will work with you to develop the best tank for your storage needs.

The construction of these tanks differs slightly from the standard vertical tank. For these tanks we fabricate 2 similar halves and join them along a horizontal seam.

We start using one of our tapered fiberglass production moulds and apply a release agent to ensure a good release of each part.

The next step is to apply either an internal gelcoat, or in some cases a chemical resistant corrosion barrier. In both cases careful attention is always paid to ensure that the optimum thicknesses are met and gauged for accuracy.

The main laminate consisting of corrosion resistant resin and chopped strand glass is then applied using the chopper gun or hand layup, depending on the size of the tank. Once the design wall thickness is achieved, the reinforcing support ribs are fiberglassed in place.

We then produce a duplicate part at the appropriate thicknesses depending on whether it is a top or bottom.

We then release the parts from the mould, trim the edges, install any fittings or accessories and assemble the halves. After the application of the exterior UV protective gelcoat we then perform thorough inspection prior to delivery.
