Company Profile

Key supplier of fiberglass products since 1986

Dura-Tech started in an 800 square foot building on Woodlawn road in Dartmouth in July of 1986. Both original partners Lee Johnson and Fred Kennedy are today as much an integral part of day to day operations as in the early days. Within the first year we were happy to welcome Steve Crosby on board. Steve has since established himself as our senior site supervisor. Our main sources of work during the first five years were light manufacturing, repairs of fiberglass products, boat building and boat repairs.

In 1991 Dura-Tech moved operations to a 2500 square foot facility in Burnside Industrial Park where we could expand our capabilities. There, we concentrated on custom manufacturing of tanks and marine specialty fiberglass products.

In 1995 we moved to our current location on Ross Road in Dartmouth. This 5000 square foot building has allowed us to expand our equipment and manufacturing capabilities. Our present production equipment includes a Binks Spray Booth, as well as Magnum Chopper and Gelcoat guns, and a complete woodworking section for Mould making.

In 2004 we began to concentrate efforts on expanding our aquaculture and chemical tank manufacturing operations, we have since acquired and produced a full inventory of production moulds. This expansion has allowed us to provide our products to customers throughout Canada and the United States.

We are continually improving and maintaining our systems so that we can better serve our customers, some of whom have been with us for over 20 years.

Whether you require an on-site repair or you are interested in having a fiberglass product made to suit, we have both the experience and equipment to provide top quality expert service.

On-Site Service

Our customers have come to rely on us for immediate on site service. We have often worked through the night to meet a ship launch time or a processing startup deadline on short notice. Our crews have traveled throughout eastern Canada and the north eastern US providing service to customers.

3D Design

In early 2011 we invested in Autodesk Inventor 3D software, this allows us to provide our customers with the latest design capabilities. This technology along with our years of experience means that we can take a concept idea and turn it into a complete detailed set of fabrication drawings quickly and accurately.

We are often asked to design a fiberglass replacement part for an original metal component that is corroding. For new components we will often take a customer's concept sketch, recommend appropriate materials and produce a comprehensive set of AutoCad drawings for customer approval within days for the most challenging parts and components.

Quality

Many of our customers now require all suppliers to provide quality documentation. We are consistently reviewing and improving our in house quality system which is designed to exceed these standards.
